A collaborative residency with installation artist Kelly Briggs, at the Barber Shop (Norwich).
10 objects were chosen independently by both Kelly Briggs and myself. Once in the space, these objects were exchanged, gifted to the other artist, who then used them as their tools, using the space as their 3D sketchbook.
We begin in the ‘other’ half of the room, with the gifted objects from the other. We have never seen them before. For the most part, we have no preconceived ideas of their origin, of their significance to the other person, the reason for their presence in the project. We have no brief, no necessary outcome. We play, and we are free to play.
